Managing Notification Alerts with Bulk Notification Feature Flag

This article will educate you how to manage, resolve, and escalate Notification Alerts. The 'Notifications' feature allows a clinician to create triggers that will alert them when a client's vital signs are above or below a specified thresholds, or if readings increase or decrease over a specified period of time. Notification Alerts can be managed from the Clinical Dashboard and/or the Patient Notes.

New Notification Alerted on the Clinical Dashboard

If a new notification has been generated and not yet actioned, it will be displayed on the Clinical Dashboard as a Flashing Bell.

To access the notification, select the Flashing Bell from the Clinician Dashboard. This will open the notification window to view the triggered notification.

Assessing the Notification

Clinicians can assess notifications using several tools within the Cloud DX platform. Notifications may be reviewed directly from the Notification Window, or clinicians can explore trends and supporting details from the Main Clinical Dashboard or within the Patient Profile.

Assessing Notifications from the Notification Window

View the Notification Details

When a notification appears, select the Bell to open the Notification Window to review the alert.

Use the View Reading / View Survey Links

Within each notification:

  • Select View Reading or View Survey
  • You will be redirected to the exact reading or survey that triggered the notification

Open the Appropriate Dashboard Tab

Choose the tab that corresponds to the information you need:

  • General – Blood pressure and common vital signs
  • Other – Additional or specialized vital signs
  • Survey – Patient-submitted surveys

Expand the Patient View

  1. Locate the patient you are assessing
  2. Select the triangle dropdown beside their name
  3. The system will display all readings or surveys within the selected date range, based on the tab you are using

This view enables you to:

  • Compare recent and historical readings
  • Identify changes, patterns, or potential issues
  • Review all values captured during the reporting period selected

Assessing Notifications Within the Patient Profile

The Patient Profile provides several tools for deeper review and trend analysis.

Readings Tab

  • Access all current and historical readings
  • Use Advanced Search to filter by:
    • Reading values
    • Notes attached to readings
    • Date ranges

Charts Tab

  • View visual trend lines for selected readings
  • Select date ranges to analyze patterns over time
  • Ideal for identifying progression or sudden changes

Reports Tab

  • Generate custom reports based on:
    • Date range
    • Reading types
  • Produce reports for a single reading type or a unified set of readings

Managing a Notifications

Notification Statuses

Notifications within Cloud DX support clear clinical workflows by allowing teams to track the current state of each alert. Each notification is assigned a status to indicate where it sits in the clinical review and management process.

Notification statuses help track where an alert is in the clinical workflow:

  • Open – New Notification- new alert that has not yet been reviewed or addressed.
  • Resolving – The clinical team is actively managing the alert according to clinical guidelines.
  • Escalated – The alert has been elevated internally for additional clinical review or intervention, following established escalation protocols.
  • Closed- Final State, the alert has been managed and considered 'Closed'

Using statuses consistently supports clear documentation and coordinated notification management across the care team.

Managing a Single Notification

Step 1: Open the Notification Bell

  1. From the Clinical Dashboard, select the bell icon to open the Notifications Window.
  2. Review the active patient notification(s).

Step 2: Update the Notification

  1. To take ownership of the notification alert and to alert other clinical providers that you are actively resolving a notification, select Update.

Step 3: Enter a Shared Note and Status Update

Within the update modal:

  1. Choose the appropriate notification status (e.g., Resolved, Escalated, or closed).

Note: Once a notification is set to Resolving or Escalated, you cannot reassign the notification back to an Open state.

  1.  If applicable, enter a clinical note. Using the drop-down, select the Status, Resolving,Escalated, or Closed to show that you are actively managing the alert or have closed the alert according to the clinical guidelines. A note is required in order to Close and alert.
  2. Select Update Notification to save your note and status.

Tip: (updating) will appear next to the notification that you are actively updating.

When all open notifications are moved from a Resolving or Escalated state, the bell will go solid on the dashboard.

Managing Bulk Notification Alerts

Option A: Mark all Open as Resolving

There may be times when multiple notification alerts are triggered. To place all open notification alerts to the resolving state, select Mark all Open as Resolving. This will change ALL Notifications with an Open Status to a Resolving Status.

Tip: Selecting Mark All as Resolving will place all notifications within the selected reading range into a Resolving status. Each notification will still need to be individually reviewed and formally closed or updated as appropriate.

Option B: Bulk Updating Patient Notifications

When multiple notifications are triggered for the same patient around the same timeframe, clinicians can now manage them more efficiently by updating several alerts at once.

This enhancement allows users to apply a single note and status update across multiple notifications in one action.

Step 1: Open the Notifications List

  1. From the Clinical Dashboard, select the bell icon to open the Notifications Window.
  2. Review the list of active patient notifications.

Step 2: Select Multiple Notifications

  1. Locate the notifications for the patient you are assessing.
  2. Use the checkbox beside each eligible notification to select more than one alert

Tip: Checkboxes are available only for system-generated notifications (such as vital sign or survey alerts), not for clinician-entered notes. When multiple notifications are selected, a disclaimer will appear showing how many notifications are being updated, and the selected notifications will be highlighted in blue.

Step 3: Confirm Bulk Update Mode is Enabled

Once multiple notifications are selected:

  • The notification update panel becomes available
  • The action button updates to display the number of selected alerts

Step 4: Enter a Shared Note and Status Update

Within the update modal:

  1. Choose the appropriate notification status (e.g., Resolved, Escalated, or closed).

Note: Once a notification is set to Resolving or Escalated, you cannot reassign the notification back to an Open state.

  1.  If applicable, enter a clinical note (this will apply to all selected notifications, a note is required to close multiple notifications). A note is required in order to Close the alert(s).

Step 6: Apply Updates

  1. Select Update Notification (x) to apply changes

Tip: Once the notification is changed to Resolving or Escalated, the flashing bell will turn solid and remain on the dashboard until the notification is closed. Once all Notifications are closed, the bell will disappear.

Filter Notification Statuses

When selecting the Bell a notification alerts box will be displayed and will provide the ability to see all notes and notifications for the patient.

The Checkbox options allow you to filter the notifications by status and hide non-notification relevant notes:

  • Open – New alert not yet reviewed
  • Resolving – Clinician actively managing
  • Escalated – Requires additional intervention
  • Closed – Fully resolved
  • Hide Notes –  Hides any notes entered that is not associated with a Notification status update.

The filter options selected will be remembered and reused the next time you access the notifications panel. Once a notification status has been updated, select Show History to view all the status changes for that notification and its associated notes.

Accessing Notification Alerts via the Patient Notes Tab

All notifications will be stored within the Patient Notes. From the patient notes, you can filter what items you see.

Show Notification and Notes: will display all manually created notes and notifications alerts triggered.

Show Only Notes: Will display all notes manually entered by the Clinical Team or Cloud DX Support.

Show Only Notifications: Will display all notifications triggered (opened, resolving, escalated, and closed)

Select the desired status from the Notifications Status drop-down and click Search to filter via notification status.

View/Update a Notification from the patient notes

To update a Notification from the patient notes, select View/Update Notification.

Note: Bulk Notification management is not available within this view.

Tip: The far right-hand panel will show the notification status; above, they are all listed as 'Open.'

The Update Notification Panel will be available at the bottom of the page. From here, you can update the notification status, add notes to the notification, and close the notification as needed.
